Everyone has dreams, everyone of us do get a burst of ideas, especially while taking a shower or in mid of random acts like watching a movie or driving a car 😁. But how many of us really take time to write them down in some digital form or on paper? At least i never did that 50% of the time.
Sometimes I get a burst of inspiration, thanks to my habit of listening to podcasts while taking morning or evening walks, I write them in my email drafts or note taking apps on my ipad or macbook and in physical notebooks (although rare again). Invariably, i never revisit or review these scattered ideas or thoughts until few weeks or months later and whenever that happens that’s by an accident. Those moments can, at once, make me feel self demeaning.
On one fine day, I was digging into google chat messages in my GMAIL (Anyone remember those days?) and was shocked because I totally forgot what i have written 17 years ago. Those passionate ideas that i shared with my friends back then, are still haunting me.
Pressing the rewind button on my life to revisit the college chapter, I always spent a lot of time reading self help books. I was always fascinated by the works of Napoleon Hill, Tony Robbins, Dale Carnegie, Stephen Covey, Tony Buzan (Mind maps and Speed reading), Robin Sharma, Arindam Chowdhary and Shiv Khera and the list goes on. I also developed keen interest and dabbled in “Hindu religion/ Sanathan Dharma” literature for a significant while.
To this day, I admire Robin Sharma the most as I use his mastery sessions, daily podcasts and audiobooks as my constant companion. Almost always i can come out of my low spirited feelings after listening to them.
I have had a successful professional career for over 17+ years (Check my About Me page) but I never committed my time and energy long enough (at least for a week persistently) to do “Deliberate Practice” of my Passions, Hobbies and Business Ideas.
I always knew that i needed to:
- Build a bit of discipline
- Step out of comfort zone
- Be consistent
- Be constantly reminded of ‘Delayed Gratification’
- Improve self confidence and integrity
And all that is possible with the help of two magic words, “Taking Action”.
